Ah, okay. I know your little scientific theory thing that Jack comes up with about the telescope is just some random part of the story, and this really doesn't matter in the slightest ...
But I thought I'd point out that by looking through a telescope, you wouldn't see the Goa-uld ship leaving, because the telescope is still 4 and 1/2 light years away from Alpha Centauri. Therefore, by the time the telescope saw the light that heralded the leaving of the Goa'uld mothership ... it would be 2 and 1/2 years too late, since the Goa'uld are arriving in 2 years. ... they'd have to have a telescope on Alpha Centauri to get the message in time.
But then, they couldn't gate to Alpha Centauri because that's a star ... so ... the ship wouldn't be coming from there, anyway.

Yea.
Once again, I know that the whole theory thing is just a little story plot piece buttttt ... the whole wrong-ness of it all sort of put me off the rest of the story ...
