I liked the story concept, except that I can't really see someone who has completed a PhD in astrophysics, probably with military financial assistance, being assigned to such a dangerous line unit...just sayin'.

Author's Response:

I can see that, but I think Sam has a couple of  things working for her here. She's done everything the Air Force asked of her extremely well. She's good at this, really very good. She's also continuing to do the other things they want her to do. I'm not sure how far you've read, but she continues assisting with R&D both locally and in Nevada as needed, something she continues to have a passion for.  This is actually a bit more feasible given that missions don't take place everyday and they perform their teaching duties on a rotating basis.  To be perfectly honest, and I can't recall if this has been intimated in the writing so far, but no one thought Sam would succeed at this. They thought she'd wash out and be back in the lab within six months. Her father may have even pulled some strings to get her into consideration (not that she'd need that), just to get her in and out without much hassle.  So, yeah, I get where you're coming from with her value as an intellectual asset, but I argue that here the Brass bit off their nose to spite their face and now they're going to have hell getting Peterson AFB, McClear, or the team to let her go.

Anyway, I'm glad you like the concept and I hope with more writing I can sell you on the story anyway. Thanks for writing!

Interesting take on the team's relationship. I like that Sam is strong and brave. Jack's marriage is good, and unexpected.

I suggest you use a beta reader, or run your chapters through a good grammer checker. It's disconcerting to read sometimes.

You are a very good writer and I'm looking forward to reading more. Thanks for posting.  SB

Author's Response:

Ah, I had beta at one point, but unfortunately we didn't mange too keep in touch. I just noticed some of the errors in a late re-read that I completely missed reading the first times around. It was disconcerting for me, too. Sorry about that.

Thank you for reading and letting me know what you thought. I hope you enjoy any future chapters I post.
