I had a dream last night that you were gone Just up and left me all alone
My pillow dripped with forlorn tears
That I could ne'er again hold you near

And when I woke you were not there
I felt my heart fill with despair
Because if my nightmare had come true
Then I'd be left, bereft, with no you

I had a dream last night that you were gone Taken by the wind to paradise unknown
And bitterly my heart cried out for you And I wept for I knew not what to do
